Quin Crumb (America. 1998)
is an artist, fabricator, and skateboarder from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Crumb earned a BFA in graphic design in 2021 from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. His work inspects our relationships with objects, activities, social norms, and images that surround us. He works with a variety of mediums including but not limited to drawing, printmaking, foundry, animation, and furniture design. Crumb approaches making with a unique design process which mirrors collage and dovetails pragmatism with absurdity. Much of his work stems from a daily drawing, collage, and writing practice which he maintains with varying degrees of tenacity. This practice is largely fueled by experimentation and play. It acts as a point of unity where his writing, drawing, and scraps from other forms of art making find a home next to found objects and material. Crumb’s practice leverages humor, material experimentation, constrained processes, intuition and mistakes to explore intersections of absurdity, functionality, skateboarding, spirituality, craftsmanship, vulnerability, ambiguity, sacredness, mending, masculinity, pointing, connections, failure, storytelling, secrets, and more. Crumb lives and works in Brooklyn, NY as a wood and metal fabricator and art handler. He Spends his time outside of work cultivating his personal art practice, skateboarding, and singing karaoke.
